PRINCE2™ is a Trade Mark of the Office of Government Commerce, UK.
Most professionals that consider PRINCE2™ as a qualification do so for career and personal development reasons. Even experienced project managers benefit from the globally recognised Certification, as a confirmation of their familiarity with the many processes and concepts within the methodology.
Companies that use PRINCE2™ as their project management approach often encourage employees to become certified to support the overall management strategy, and to be able to present their project management credentials to customers. It is common for contracts and tenders to include clauses that prefer (if not mandate) a recognised project management methodology such as PRINCE2™
The two tiered certification in PRINCE2™ comprises Foundation and Practitioner qualifications. There is also a third qualification designed for program managers; a program being a number of projects, and a program manager being responsible for running the projects either directly or through project managers. The certification pathway for programme managers is “Managing Successful Programs” (MSP). The MSP certification is available as Foundation, Practitioner and Advanced Practitioner.
The PRINCE2™ method is owned by the British Crown and administered by the UK Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and managed by the UK-based APM Group. Conscium International is the APMG Accredited Training Organisation delivering the PRINCE2™ courses at Monash Professional. MSP courses and examinations are provided by Codarra Advanced Systems Pty Ltd - an APMG MSP Accredited Training Organisation.
