Overview:

This course is the second part of 'Accounting & Financial Management' course. By taking this short course you will learn about Discounted Cash Flow Analysis, Economic Value Added (EVA), Evaluating Investment Opportunities, Risk & Sensitivity Analysis, Funding, Corporate Financial Structure and Policy.

This short course also allows IT professionals to learn sound skills in accounting and financial management without having to commit to a 3-year business degree. At the end of the course you will have gained substantial knowledge in financial analysis and investment decision enabling you to better analyse and prepare effective business proposals, as well as make successful investment decisions.

Learning Method:

The course will be presented in lecture/tutorial sessions using a combination of lectures and practical exercises. Each student will be provided with a full set of course notes and will have access to accounting tools and the Internet.

Students will be given an assignment to complete based off the curriculum and will also have an exam at the end of the course. The class assignment will be worth 50% of your final assessment. An exam will be held on the last class worth 50% of the final assessment.

Please note that assessment is not mandatory. Those that successfully pass will receive a certificate of achievement. This will go towards completing a Certificate of Computing. Participants that attend a minimum of 80% of classes will receive a certificate of attendance

There are no formal pre-requisites for this course, although it’s recommended that you attend the first part – course 618: Accounting and Financial Reporting.
