Business Analysis

Enterprises are driven by and organised around business processes. Activities within a business process are the foundational building blocks of the enterprise where value is created and where the majority of resources (dollars, hours, etc.) are consumed. They are also a point of connection with customers, vendors and business partners.

Efficient and effective processes contribute to responsive, productive and profitable enterprises. Unfortunately, business processes in many organisations consist of a complex web of inefficient, outdated and redundant activities, burdensome business rules and practices that hinder performance. Regrettably, these same processes in many cases serve as the basis for defining application development business and user requirements.

The goal of the Monash Professional Business Analysis ‘best practice’ pathway is to provide students with the means and an effective set of skills, techniques and methods for identifying, mapping, measuring, objectively analysing and improving business processes and practices. These can benefit your enterprise and work across enterprise boundaries with customers, suppliers and business partners.

This comprehensive, practical learning program is offered in four stand-alone modules which can be taken in sequence or on an individual basis. They comprise best practice, supporting techniques and practical knowledge gleaned from the experience of numerous real-world projects. Included is the practical application of mapping, analysis, and improvement techniques followed by carefully crafted exercises and case studies designed to reinforce the techniques and enhance skills. Units 1 and 2 also have an optional assessment exercise to be completed outside the classroom, which is marked and certified by Monash Professional.

Unit 1 - Business Process Modelling
Unit 2 - Data Modelling
Unit 3 - Business Process Metrics
Unit 4 - Software Tools for Process and Data Modellers
