Why should I use Monash Professional?
Finding work experience overseas without contacts or local industry knowledge is difficult. Monash Professional has developed a network of partners with extensive industry contacts around the world. We can create a tailored internship for you and assist you to prepare for living in a foreign country.
Which country should I go to?
This will depend on your prior studies and experience and current interests. In order to get the most out of your internship abroad, we require applicants to speak the local language to an upper intermediate level, with the exception of the China program. If you don’t speak a second language then you might like to consider an internship in the USA or UK.
Monash Professional currently offers internships in France, Italy, Spain, Germany, China, Japan USA and UK.
What industries are available?
This will vary according to the location. In general, Monash Professional is able to offer you an internship in most major industries including marketing, engineering, banking & finance, accounting, business administration, IT, journalism and more. In addition, Monash Professional also offers more specialised internship programs such as a Fashion Internship in Milan and English Teaching Internship in China.
Are the internships paid?
This will vary according to region, but in general internships in professional fields are unpaid and designed to give students and recent graduates practical experience in their chosen field. Selected countries and industries do offer paid positions, so please check with Monash Professional to see what is available.
What type of company will I be placed with?
Monash Professional has a large network of partners who find industry placements on behalf of our applicants. Our partners work with a range of companies from boutique firms, to international companies and a range of non government organisations and charity groups. We are also able to arrange placements within schools and universities, government departments and research institutes. Whilst we will consider all applicants preferences of the type of company, this cannot be guaranteed.
What type of work can I expect to do?
Our internships are custom designed to place you in a role that relates specifically to your studies or field of interest. The exact nature of your role will be determined by your knowledge and skills in that specific field and by your skills in the language of your host country.
How long can I do an internship for?
Our programs are highly customised which means that applicants are able to select the time of year and the duration of internship. Time commitments vary according to region, but most countries require interns to stay for between 8 and 26 weeks.
Which visa will I require?
This will vary according to country. Monash Professional and our partners abroad will assist students with visa advice and processing to ensure that you have the correct visa for your region of choice.
Can I enrol in a language course before I start my internship?
Monash Professional has partnerships with language schools in most countries where we send interns. In some cases, the internship program may include a compulsory language course prior to the commencement of the internship.
